The Massachusetts Institute of Technology announced today that it admitted a total of 1,457 applicants to the Class of 2024.  

A total of 20,075 applications were submitted this year, resulting in an overall admission rate of 7 percent.

Johns Hopkins announced today that it admitted 1,922 applicants to the Class of 2024 under regular decision.  

A total of 2,604 early and regular decision applicants were admitted from a total pool of approximately 29,655 applicants, resulting in an overall admission rate of 9 percent.

Here's our updated list of early decision and early action notification dates for the Class of 2024.  As many of you know, schools often post results in advance of their "official" notification dates, so we've compiled the most recently updated dates for you here where available, as well as last year's notification dates for reference.

The University of Virginia announced today that it admitted 5,219 early action applicants to the Class of 2024.  

A total of 25,160 early action applications were received, resulting in an overall early admission rate of 26 percent.  35 percent of in-state applicants were admitted compared to 15 percent of out-of-state applicants.

Georgia Tech announced that it admitted 4,569 early action applicants to the Class of 2024.  

Early action applications grew 9 percent to 22,199, resulting in an early action admission rate of 21 percent.

Rice University admitted 385 early decision applicants to the Class of 2024.  

Early decision applications declined 22 percent to 2,042, resulting in an admission rate of 18.9 percent.

Did you know it's possible to be guaranteed admission to certain public universities based solely on your academic credentials?  

While institutions like the University of California won’t guarantee you admission to a specific campus, the good news is that most will based on some combination of class rank, GPA and test scores.

For example, if you’re an Arizona resident interested in the University of Arizona, a 3.0+ GPA or top 25% class rank will assure you admission. Or if you’re a Texas resident interested in the University of Texas at Austin, a top 6% class rank will grant you automatic admission.

Better yet, assured admission often extends to non-residents as well. A top 10% class rank or 3.5+ GPA will assure admission to Washington State University, for example, or a 24+ ACT or 1160+ SAT will assure admission to the University of Missouri. 

Of course, you’ll still need to complete an application and sweat the details, like making sure you’ve satisfied curriculum requirements and that your GPA is calculated appropriately. To help you understand the specifics, we’ve included links to program criteria for the public institutions listed.

Yale admitted 796 applicants to the Class of 2024 under Single Choice Early Action.

5,777 applications were received, resulting in an early admission rate of 14 percent.  56 percent of applicants were deferred, 29 percent were denied, and 1 percent were withdrawn or incomplete.

Dartmouth accepted 547 applicants (including 21 matched through QuestBridge) to the Class of 2023 under early decision.  

The total number of early admission applicants fell to 2,069 this year, down 16 percent.  This resulted in an early admission rate of 26 percent.

Dartmouth anticipates these early admits will account for 46 percent of this year's targeted class of 1,150.

The University of Pennsylvania admitted 1,269 early decision applicants to the Class of 2023.  

Early decision applications totaled 6,453, resulting in an admission rate of 20 percent.

A total of 9,291 applications were submitted this year, resulting in an overall admission rate of 7 percent.

Cornell accepted 1,576 applicants to the Class of 2024 under early decision.  

Early decision applicants totaled 6,615, resulting in an admisison rate of 23.8 percent.

Legacy students made up 22.1 percent of early admits and athletes made up 12.1 percent.

Johns Hopkins admitted 682 applicants to the Class of 2024 under early decision.  

With early decision applications up 16 percent from last year's total of 2,068, the early decision acceptance rate for the Class of 2024 is approximately 28 percent.

The total number of early decision applicants declined 11 percent to 4,300 this year, resulting in an early admission rate of 21 percent.
